'Art with a Heart'

sold 5 paintings/photographs raising £370 for Red Earth projects.  A hge thank you to Sarah and Simon for their generosity in 50% sale price donations.

Red Earth Children (Africa) was registered on Christmas Eve 2008 and gained Chaitable status in the summer of 2009.  Our objective to raise funds and awareness of children affected and aflicted by the HIV/AIDS virus in south-west Uganda, and across a wider area in time.

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of a small but punchy team of individuals from Mbarara and Muko (Uganda) to the four corners of Scotland and a critical IT powerhouse in Glasgow we are now online and a step closer to action.  Work is still ongoing, so please be patient while pages are fully populated.  Click here to read bac kground information and meet the extended team.

On these pages, we introduce ourselves, our aims, our partners in Uganda and the activities they carry out, and explain how you can help.  You will also be able to find out what contributors powering the Red Earth Children Projects can and already have acheived on the ground.

We hope you will help Red Earth Children to launch itself through its first year of operation by coming along and support one of our events.  See our Red Earth Children Diary for updates on events and what's happening at home and in Uganda.

The Red Earth Children Art Exhibition kick started our work at the end of November 2009 through the winter and into the summer of 2010 in a number of venues in Aviemore, headed up and supported by one of our partners Caffé Bleu.  An Opening Evening was held at Caffé Bleu on the evening of 27th November.
International World AIDS Day is 1st December.  Red Earth Children teamed up with a number of generous supporters in 2010 to hold a charity gig to raise funds and awareness in the The Caves - a superb venue in Edinburgh.   The fabulous and furious Shooglenifty headlined the night, with intro performaces from Edinburgh band TV21's and the The Injuns of Skye.
Plan a summer week-end in the Cairngorms where a number of music and art events will  be joining together to support Red Earth Children (Africa) planned for end August near Aviemore.  Watch this space for names and confirmed date.

Also, soon we will have our Red Earth Market, where you can view and buy authentic crafts direct from the communities we work with, from beads and baskets to mats and walking sticks!  All funds raised go directly back to the people were made by and projects to raise health, education and social standards impacted by poverty, disease and governance.
