The Cave Rock 'n' Reel' World AIDS Day Concert
with SHOOGLENIFTY, THE INJUNS & TV21
was held on 1st December 2009 at The Caves, Niddry St. South, Edinburgh
This spirited night raised more than £1,000 for Red Earth Children Projects thanks to around 130 people turning out and with the generous contributions by the bands. All of the bands made a very significant and impressive gesture and lots of great music to help us raise funds and awareness of Red Earth Children on a rainy night on World AIDS Day, 1st December. We are indebted to them all, and to everyone who turned up to listen and with offerings for the raffle. |

The Red Earth Art Exhibition
Opening night was Friday 27th Nov Caffe Bleu, AVIEMORE 6.00pm - 8.00pm
Local launch of REC and to recognise World AIDS Day on 1st Dec.
Our enormous thanks go to the astonishingly generous trio, Sarah, Simon and Nick. Each painting or print sold will bring identifiable funds for items to the FAOC projects or CCFU Rwaiburindi School/Batwa people. Providing lunch sponsorship, energy efficient stoves, fruit trees and mosquito nets will make a big difference to the lives of the people who need it and give tangible value to each pound spent.
Aviemore has developed something of a cafe culture and several establishments have come together to display pictures for us through the 6-8 week period. This is being led by Caffé Bleu, who are part of the Cobbs Cafés Group, a Drumnadrochit based bakehouse and catering company and have an excellent main street location, great coffee and an enthusiastic manager who has generously grasped and expanded our ambitions and have offered to team up with Red Earth Children on a longer term basis. None the less our very significant thanks also go to Mountain Cafe, Ord Ban and Cafaidh Active.
Caffé Bleu are to host the opening night of the exhibition on the evening of 27th Nov from 6pm -8pm (tbc)
The evening will have the fabulous cakes and coffees of Cobbs at Caffe Bleu and a one night only addition of African tea (with proceeds of the 90 minutes going to Red Earth Children). Complimentary wine will also be served and a short presentation made on the origins and ambitions of Red Earth Children and how people can get involved one-to-one. In a phenomenal, extended gesture Sean Henderson, Caffé Bleu's Manager has offered 10 pence from every coffee sold over the counter in the whole week to Red Earth Children!
Various aspects of the exhibition will be placed in:

We thank all participating venues for their kind offers to give wall space and any potential commission taken to our cause. Please reward all the cafés well in your purchases!
The exhibition will also display a number prints of many of the Ugandan children and communities that Red Earth Children now aim to help support, and beads and baskets handmade in the same villages. All sales will go directly back to the communities split between the craft maker or subject of the pictures and importantly to health, education and income support projects run by FAOC or CCFU.
